Netflix Chooses Perfect Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash won’t take place until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bon Clay. This character has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the initial comic and anime.
Escola joins several other new cast members tasked with bringing the group to the screen, including leader the main antagonist, brought to life by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the monarch of Alabasta.
Though the role is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Their mix of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece show is due to premiere for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
