New Particulars Surface About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report quoting a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Additionally disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
