Outrage as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose behind the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the property supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been tracking them to determine their location," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," were her words.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
She urged the community to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the incident, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's three sons.
