Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be quite close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son told me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always strong at home. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
