The Details Known Concerning the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
A minimum of 16 individuals perished and over 40 were hurt when assailants fired on a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian authorities have labeled a terrorist attack.
According to the most recent information, officials have stated the number of fatalities stands at 16, including one of the suspected attackers. Moreover, 42 wounded individuals were admitted to the hospital.
The deceased are yet to be publicly named, but police believe their ages range from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Reportedly a father of five children, he worked as the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and friends described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who loved to help people”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative asked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She told the events before the shooting, stating they were standing when the shooting erupted. “He moved to protect me because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.
The pair were both Holocaust survivors, having endured unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister declared that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must eradicate,” the message read.
One Child
A child who was taken to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was also killed in the incident, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number are still under care, with five in a critical state. The injured include two police officers who attended the scene.
A casualty is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a local hero, he received gunshot wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. Sources state he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the scene as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the attack. He told reporters he heard “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I was hit. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
