This Swine Life: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
